By Day 2, collections nearly doubled. Hindi net earnings reached ₹3.35 crore, while the Telugu and other regional versions added about ₹0.25 crore. The two-day India gross stood around ₹7.5 crore.

Story, Production and Mythological Foundations
The film adapts the tale of Prahlad and Lord Narasimha, based on ancient Hindu texts—Vishnu Purana and Bhagavata Purana. It narrates how Lord Vishnu takes the half-lion avatar to protect Prahlad from his tyrannical father, Hiranyakashyap.
Produced by Hombale Films (of KGF fame) and Kleem Productions, the film took over four years to complete. Director Ashwin Kumar said the goal was to elevate Indian animation to international standards, asserting, “Indian VFX and animation can be of world-class quality.”
The film also serves as the first installment in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, with six more films planned through 2037, based on Vishnu’s Dashavatara.

Audience Reaction and Critical Response
Public response to the film has been overwhelmingly positive. On platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, viewers praised its animation, emotional storytelling, and mythological depth. One user called it “a divine cinematic experience that honors Sanatan Dharma.”
Critically, Mahavatar Narsimha earned 3.5/5 stars from India Today, with praise for its climactic sequence. Reviewer Anurag Singh Bohra called it “emotionally uplifting.”
Still, some Reddit users noted that while improved, the animation style lags behind global CGI standards.

Industry Impact and Wider Implications
Experts believe that the Mahavatar Narsimha box office success marks a turning point in Indian animation. It proves that audiences are ready to embrace animated films beyond children’s content.
Industry analyst Karan Batra of MediaStat Analytics commented, “Indian studios are recognizing that animation can be cinematic art. Mythological content clearly has demand.”
With more screens added in metro and Tier-2 cities, box office momentum looks promising. According to the FICCI-EY 2025 report, India’s animation and VFX sector is projected to grow at 20.5% CAGR, driven by culturally rooted content.
